High Street Studios would like to welcome Tina Cavicchio and Anara Frank to lead our first Latin Dance Workshop.
In this 3-hour intensive experience, Anara and Tina will get you dancing 3 beautiful styles of Latin dance that are now popular around the world! We will explore Merengue & Bachata that are originally from the Dominican Republic, and Salsa whose origins trace back to Cuba, Puerto Rico, and New York City.
In the first hour you will learn the rhythms, body movement, and fancy footwork in all 3 styles. Each style can be enjoyed dancing solo as an expression of joyful movement, and can also help you build an essential foundation for partner-work dancing. The styles have many things in common, and we will guide you progressively to flow from one style to the next.
The last two hours will be dedicated to learning turn patterns and partner-work skills that can be utilized in each genre, as well as some unique moves that fit especially well with each particular type of music. In keeping with the MA safety guidelines, we encourage everyone to invite someone you live with or see regularly to join you! Whether it’s your significant other, your parent, child or roommate, Latin Dance will lift your spirits and give you a fun physical activity to do together during quarantine.
The three hour workshops cost $70. If you wish to attend the first hour only the cost is $25, or if you have experience and only want to attend the last two hours for $50 please email jenny@highstreet.studio to do so.
We encourage you to dress in comfortable clothes for moving, and layers for warmth since we will have the garage doors open. For your feet, you will want shoes with a smooth bottom that you feel you can turn in. If you don’t have shoes you feel comfortable in, please feel free to bring an extra pair of socks or try sock-foot if you wish. For some people those options can either feel too slippery or sticky, so if you are unsure, please feel free to bring a few options to try!
